About State University of New York at Cortland

State University of New York at Cortland, also known as SUNY Cortland or Cortland State, is a coeducational university located in Cortland, which is a city in the US state of New York, serving as the county seat of Cortland County, with a population of more than 18 000 inhabitants, estimated duirng the 2000 census.

SUNY Cortland was founded in 1848 and first started as Cortland Normal School. It currently offers its students 63 majors and 44 minors, through 12 academic departments, at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Athletics

SUNY Cortland's athletic teams are known as the Red Dragons and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are red and white.
